The simple definition of mosaics is that its ‘a decorative piece using different types of tiles and inserts.’ It is the art of creating an image or a design from a vision you would like to express to something as simple as decorating a border around a mirror. Besides the choice of subject and style of the design, it is also the choice of materials and the skill in creating and placing the pieces. Thus contributing to the personal, artistic and practical value of the mosaic. A special feature of a mosaic piece is that it is solid and durable. The physical qualities of the materials used add greatly to the significance of the mosaic. At our studio we make use of glitter, glass and river rock tiles specifically. The tiles can be used in its original shape or cut into two or more pieces by use of a tile cutter. Changing the shape of the tile used can dramatically influence the final result of your mosaic piece. We also have an assortment of inserts from which to choose from. We mainly mosaic long, circular and square mirrors, hearts, crosses, pot stands and words such as joy, happy, love, dream, and welcome.
